We explore the concept of performance together, we question it, we shatter it, we expand it and ourselves. We dance ourselves naked, we shower ourselves transparently, we breathe ourselves up, we break everything down. We play with the possibilities of the impossible, we document, we trivialize, we interact in the here and now. We narrate, we explore, we surmise, we experiment.

The Performance Lab offers a contact point for all those who engage with performance in the broader sense – from performative materials and kinetic objects to the body and movement. In workshops, we work with various approaches, addressing different themes, techniques, and content that move us. We explore possibilities of documentation, define objects as performative subjects, and experiment with holotropic breathwork and dance. We form a real-time bubble beyond AI and the like for all those who want to work performatively, narratively, and exploratively, by the sweat of their brow. We’re trying out alternative recording techniques and, in doing so, sharpening our perception – of everything and for everything.

Lableaders:  Beate Ronacher  and Harald Scherz

Beate Ronacher studied journalism and communication studies in Salzburg and fine arts in the sculpture class with Gelatin in Linz. For her reclining performance series “Untitled (Fußfälle),” she was awarded the Gabriele Heidecker Prize in 2021 and was run over by a car.

Harald Scherz studied political science, international development, anthropology, and conceptual art in Vienna. Things get exciting outside the box.

Im Performance Lab loten wir gemeinsam den Begriff der Performance aus, wir hinterfragen, wir
zerschlagen, wir erweitern ihn und uns. Wir tanzen uns nackt, wir duschen uns transparent, wir atmen uns
rauf, wir brechen alles runter. Wir spielen mit den Möglichkeiten der Unmöglichkeit, wir dokumentieren,
wir banalisieren, wir interagieren im Hier und Jetzt. Wir erzählen, wir erkunden, wir erahnen, wir
experimentieren.

Das Performance Lab bietet eine Anlaufstelle für alle, die sich mit Performance im weiteren Sinne
auseinandersetzen – von performativen Materialien über kinetische Objekte bis hin zu Körper und
Bewegung. In Workshops arbeiten wir mit verschiedenen Zugängen, greifen unterschiedliche Themen,
Techniken und Inhalte auf, die uns bewegen. Wir erkunden Möglichkeiten der Dokumentation, definieren
Objekte als performative Subjekte, experimentieren mit holotroper Atmung und Tanz. Wir bilden eine
Real-Time-Blase jenseits von KI und Co für all jene, die performativ, narrativ und explorativ arbeiten
wollen, im Schweiße ihres Angesichts. Wir versuchen uns an alternativen Aufnahmeverfahren und
schärfen dabei unsere Wahrnehmung – von Allem und für Alles.

Beate Ronacher studierte Publizistik und Kommunikationswissenschaften in Salzburg und Bildende Kunst
in der Klasse für Bildhauerei bei Gelatin in Linz. Für ihre Liegeperformanceserie “Untitled (Fußfälle)”
wurde sie 2021 mit dem Gabriele-Heidecker-Preis ausgezeichnet und von einem Auto überfahren.

Harald Scherz studierte Politikwissenschaften, Internationale Entwicklung, Anthropologie und Konzeptkunst
in Wien. Spannend wird’s jenseits des Tellerrands.
