Albert: Requiem voor de Onwerkelijkheid

Requiem for Unreality is a philosophical and musical performance, written by one of the most famous dutch writers, Toon Tellegen. When the first-person narrator, played by 89 year old actor Hans Croiset, has a special encounter with an angel, he says goodbye to the ‘unreality’, which according to them is life. On stage 18 artists in outrageous costumes, representing entities from ‘reality’, are descending to seduce the protagonist into their world. The beautiful choir music is written by Dutch composer Corrie van Binsbergen, she uses original latin requiem form and texts. Albert van Veenendaal plays the prepared piano, creating soundscapes, pulsating rhythms, effects.

“I have celebrated unreality, visited it to the limits of my imagination, admired it, loved it. In unreality I have rested, loved and slept, fought death when I was still invincible and made music: even a requiem: for it, my unreality!” (Toon Tellegen)
