In the Performance Lab, we collaboratively explore the concept of performance. The lab serves as a meeting point for everyone interested in engaging with performance in a broader sense — from body and movement to performative materials and kinetic objects. Through workshops and guided discussion sessions, we approach the various dimensions of performance, exploring, reflecting, and experimenting together. The Performance Lab sees itself as a real-time bubble beyond AI and the like, for Smiths who want to work performatively, narratively, and physically, in the here and now.

Beate Ronacher is a visual artist with a focus on performance. She studied Journalism and Communication Studies in Salzburg and Fine Arts in the Sculpture class of Gelatin in Linz. For her series of reclining performances, “Untitled (Prostrations),” she received the Gabriele Heidecker Prize in 2021 — and was run over by a car.

Im Performance Lab loten wir gemeinsam den Begriff der Performance aus. Das Lab bietet eine Anlaufstelle für alle, die sich mit Performance in einem weiteren Sinne auseinandersetzen – von Körper und Bewegung über performative Materialien bis hin zu kinetischen Objekten. In Workshops und geführten Gesprächsrunden greifen wir die verschiedenen Zugänge zu Performance auf, erkunden, reflektieren und experimentieren gemeinsam. Das Performance Lab versteht sich als Real-Time-Blase jenseits von KI und Co für Smiths, die performativ, narrativ und körperlich arbeiten wollen, im Hier und Jetzt.

Beate Ronacher ist Bildende Künstlerin mit Schwerpunkt Performance. Sie studierte Publizistik und Kommunikationswissenschaften in Salzburg und Bildende Kunst in der Klasse für Bildhauerei bei Gelatin in Linz. Für ihre Liegeperformanceserie “Untitled (Fußfälle)” wurde sie 2021 mit dem Gabriele-Heidecker- Preis ausgezeichnet und von einem Auto überfahren.
