Why do you want to participate at Schmiede?
couldn‘t see Werkschau this year, need to see all sloths
what else is there

To fully immerse myself in art and its various forms for a while, to have a space for development, to gain new experiences, to meet new people and to network.
Weil Schmiede die Welt ist, in der ich ohne Einschränkungen sein kann, wer ich bin.
Was at the Open Day last fall because of the awards ceremony and was convinced that I wanted to take part. Cooperation was also offered in the annual scholarship. Don’t know exactly in what form…
Because I love art and heard it’s cool there.
Weil Eva da is
I love it
I would like to use this time and space for experimenting with the effect of sound frequencies on materials like sand, water and metal. I would be excited to see how these materials form patterns when laid on different surfaces close to different music instruments. Inspired from the movements of the materials, I would like to create movements for a dance choreography in a scene of a short movie we are filming in October 2024.
Because I miss this universe a lot! This year is the perfect opportunity because I will be in Austria (currently living in Spain – so usually it’s more complicated for me to attend)
I want to meet with old friends, meet new creative minds and share knowledge/work on projects together.
Es war beim letzten Mal schon super und ich bin wieder bei der Accomplices-Truppe dabei.
The last two times I took part at Schmiede were as team-member of “Studio Drey”. I really enjoyed my time as “center-smith”, but I participated in a “work context” and was therefore not as free in the choice of projects and activities I took part in. This year I would like to participate during my vacation so that I can be completely free and enjoy the Schmiede-experience to the fullest.
sloth
I want to feed chocolate to Eva (and maybe work on my AI)
rüdiger
Get 10 days off normal life, art
It’s fun and Eva made me hehe
to build some awesome mixed media augmented reality experiences with other participants, especially litto and hideo 😉
To Work on Slothprojects and to sloth around.
Kunst und Kultur!
Last year I attended on commission (by Makery.info). Lots of cool project ideas arose in collaboration with other artists, but I didn’t want to compromise my commitment to the article, so I didn’t fully engage in any of them. I have been further collaborating with other smiths after the event, but I’d love to make the most out of the time and space that Schmiede provides to properly develop collaborative art projects.
To surround myself with lovely and stunning people.
I want to engage in projects that try to unthink the limitations that the current zeitgeist imposes on everything that is deemed “cultural”, “artistic” and “performative”. Maybe hijackig the meme of being a sloth, and transforming it into a device of contrast in regards to the normalized accelerated environments in which human beings traverse troughout the day – discussing thoughts like that with other beings that slow down purposefully, maybe that’s the kind of impulses that lure me in…
I participated last year and it was magical. Also I want to reap all the benefits of the Schmiede Gewerkschaft.
to do crazy slothy stuff with other artists’ socks (and no, I also do not know what that means yet, but it will be glorious)
its nice
Because it’s the Schmiede, duh!
To get inspired by the bench of talented people, to create new dance performances and dance-films, to meet new people.
For new opportunities, melding minds with other makers and expanding my own. To explore new places and make art!
cause it is time for Schmiede again
Because I work there : )
Focus on a new project and exchange of possibilities and ideas
because
Spreading the memes of production
would like to develope an art/culture project, get to know interesting people
To experiment with new ideas in a creative environment and to make new collaborative connections!
Verschüttete, unterdrückte Kreativprozesse anstacheln // Wundervolle Leute // Tolle Rahmenbedingungen // Freundschaften
I want to work on a creative project, probably with textiles and interactive materials, and collaborate with other Smiths, maybe help them with their projects; make use of the special atmosphere during Schmiede
Because its a great place to create, to network, to charge energy, to meet friends and to be updated in art trends.

And especially because Schmiede is a place where one can accomplish most of the crazy ideas that are conceived there.

I want to experiment on some projects that I started in an environment where I can get direct feedback, network, collaborate and gain inspiration and other perspectives through the creative output of others.
to become a sloth
life!
continue my schmiede streak of the last years
I am interested in a wide range of rural cultural set-ups across Europe. To undertake this study, I have recently gained a travel scholarship from the Scottish Arts Council (Creative Scotland).

Schmiede in Hallein would provide a unique model within the European arts ecology, that I would be keen to investigate further. A book (JOVIS publishers, Berlin) on different models of rural art development is planned.

I am a keen collaborator and would therefore cherish the idea to work among other creative practitioners while engaging in opportunities in my life-long interest in walking art.

to play
same same
ahoi. it is me again. nita. a visual tale & story teller. i already applied in the last year, and unfortunatley could not join as my studioship was kind of stucking in the ocean of work. so this year i want to take part & here is my again application. i am a timeless ghost of a time not hunting any ghosts of time. i am interested in all kind of niches, my projects have a settlement in nostalgia, a romantic & poetic defense of emotional intelligence. i already joined the schmiede 2012 i worked on a cinema vertigo project which was presented at the media facade. i loved the time back then, also because that was one of the rare places, where i liked the networking aspect. it was nice to exchange with all kind of people from all kind of backgrounds. so i enjoyed being a smith over a decade ago. i love to create something offside, i kind of believe in productive output as a result of hiatus. as i hide away in front of my screen here in vienna very often. my intention is not merely the exchange of tapestry, i will point that out at your follow up question category concerning expectations.
to experiment new field in arts
I heard so many good stories about it and wanted to go there for a long time and now finally am applying!
idk
I like!
Cause its great and I want to see you all again 😉
I would like to participate in Schmiede to exchange experiences, form new collaborations, spark our imaginations, and experiment together with the other participants.
basically to get out of my 9-5 work bubble and again into a more creative environment – I missed that during the last years a lot. I don’t know yet what I want to do – so open for Ideas 🙂
Sharing, caring and learning to know like minded people from all over… To create and explore.
I’m just curious. And there are things/projects I want to build/try out/compose/perform.
Because it looks really awesome!

I love the idea of gathering with a bunch of international artists and just being creative and sharing ideas and building something together. I work great under tight timelines so the 10 day limit to connect, create and present is very appealing to me. I believe I have a wide range of skills to offer and am a great collaborator. I haven’t participated in a collective art project for a few years so I am eager to meet new people, get inspired and make some cool things!

I will also be attending Ars Electronica this year and will certainly be excited and inspired after attending the festival. I’m sure I will have many things to share and ideas I want to further explore.

I have been craving time and space to collaborate with other artists and exchange ideas. I believe Schmiede is a great opportunity to do this since it offers a vibrant, multidisciplinary and safe space, which reminds me of the collective work during my university days in Colombia.

I am excited to contribute my skills, creativity, humour and also I am very enthusiastic to learn from others. I believe that a community-focused approach can lead to richer creative processes and stronger relationships, which are crucial in today’s individual-centric world.

I am also attending Ars Electronica Festival before this residency and I believe Schmiede would be an excellent opportunity to process and decompress the festival’s information and to share inspiration and knowledge with other participants.

I heard a lot about Schmiede at my time at Oktolog in Wels (which you have heard of I suspect). I am very curious to finally get to know this motherproject of Oktolog. I’m am looking forward to experience the scope of Schmiede compared to it and also the diversity of participants. Also I’m eager to experiment with my workshop formats at Schmiede.
Get to know the local community and connections; Get inspired by the creative, free environment for work and personal development; Take the 10 days to (hopefully) hyper-focus on something; Have fun
I am currently intensifying my creative and artistic activities and would love to participate since I trust in my network of friends and collaborators who encouraged me that Schmiede will be the right place to be for me. In other words: My curiosity on what your community offers & the trust in the recommendations I’ve been given 😉
My main reason may seem quite selfish: I love to play. Playing, for me, means a sincere, sharp connection with what lies before me. Drawing from that and creating, deeply inspires me. Participating in ‘Schmiede’ allows for playful exchange and further development of my skills as an artist. My collaborative and open-hearted nature contributes to groups—I engage, take responsibility, and remain attentive.
Meeting with nice people and make cool artsy things while having fun is how I always describe an ideal day for me.

I’m relatively new in Salzburg and I’m trying to reconnect with my creative background and meet people to make stuff with. I especially appreciate the multidisciplinary and international nature of it which helps a lot with my fears and struggles with “putting myself in a box” and speaking german!

I mostly want to visit
Because I had such a great time last year and this year I want to work on my Subnet project during Schmiede (in co. with Eirian who will also be there) and test out some ideas and work-in-progress tools/experiments with other Smiths, get ready for the Subnet residency to follow.
From my good friend Monique Besten I have heard many inspiring stories about the project. I am retired from working at the conservatory and totally ready for new adventures, meeting and collaborating with other artists, sharing my experience, questioning the same experience, starting from scratch and surrendering over and over to the attempt in an environment that is open to the new, the experiment, research, dis-covering, sharing and working together.
development, inspiration and mental health through exzessive behaviour, shake it off
after my two schmiede participations 2016 and 2017, i am keen on doing another project again there. as part of the crafting realities lab i will work together with students at the intersection of interactive technology and artistic expression.

Space and time to do stuff
Participating since 2018, Schmiede, with its possibilities and encounters, has become a vital part of my yearly schedule and artistic practice that I’m looking forward to.
meet creative people, immerse myself in intensive week of creation.
I am currently involved in a film project called LISTEN where dance, music (and cymatics), VFX and cinematography will interweave.
Because I’ve been at Schmiede two times and I was having a really good time. Mainly because of the amazing people I met there and I am looking forward to see many of them again and meet new people as well.
I would like to share my skills and knowledge with other Smiths but furthermore also to get involved into a project where I can enhance my creative flow.

I think I’m able to share some of my personal skills to other Smiths, e.g. on how to start your own VJ-project with little to no budget.

Generally speaking I love to exchange creativity, because I think this is how we can keep Art moving…

Because is a great opportunity to connect.
because of the great atmosphere, the people, the creative inspiration and exchange with others.
-I’m on the lookout for ways to expand my horizons, exploring new fields; especially interactive- installations, projections, experiences and the like. Maybe join a gamejam – if time permits
Last year, I had a very intensive time at the Schmiede. I produced four tracks, collaborated on a performance together with a visual artist, learned how to DJ and had lots of good conversations with interesting people. The whole atmosphere really inspired me, so it was without question that I wanted to come back this year.

Die Schmiede ist ein toller Ort des Begegnens und des kreativen und intellektuellen Austauschs. Das ist ein wunderbarer Grund dabei sein zu wollen.
Have a week of creativity and (re)connecting with people
Why not?
Community, Friends, Energy, bringing together

meet interesting people, develop new projects, present new projects
To better expand the artistic community in which I exist. Meet and learn from others.
